WhatsApp broadcasts
Send a template to a list, keep the quality rating green, and know the cost before you send
A broadcast sends one approved template to a list of contacts. It is the highest-open-rate channel most businesses have, and it is also where numbers get restricted, so the rules matter.
Before you send
- Opt-in. Meta requires that every recipient agreed to receive messages from you on WhatsApp. A keyword they sent, a form checkbox, or a clear yes in chat counts. A scraped number or a list from another channel does not.
- A payment method in Meta's Billing Hub. Broadcasts are template messages and Meta bills each delivered one.
- An approved template in the category that matches the content. See WhatsApp templates.
Sending
- Broadcasts → New.
- Choose the number, the template, and fill its placeholders.
- Choose the audience: contacts filtered by tag, or a CSV import. Opted-out contacts are excluded automatically.
- Send now or schedule.
Arolead shows the estimated cost in rupees, GST included, before you confirm, worked out from the template's category and Meta's rate card. The actual cost appears on the Broadcasts list after delivery. Delivery, read and reply status come back per recipient.
Replies
Every reply opens a 24-hour window in which your messages back are free and land in the inbox. That is where the sales happen.
Keeping the quality rating green
Meta rates every business number on how recipients react in the last seven days: blocks, reports and whether people reply. A number that drops to red gets its messaging limit cut.
- Send to people who asked, and only as often as you said you would.
- Include a way out ("reply STOP") and honour it. Arolead records the opt-out on the contact.
- Send at a sensible hour for the recipient.
- Prefer a monthly message to an engaged list over a weekly message to a cold one.
Do not broadcast to people already talking to you
If someone messaged you inside the last 24 hours, a normal message is free and a marketing template is still billed. Reply from the inbox instead.
