Connecting your account
Two ways to connect Instagram, which one should I use?
There are two ways to connect an Instagram account to Arolead. Both let your automations reply to comments and send DMs, the difference is whether a Facebook Page is involved.
The two options
Connect via Facebook, connects a Facebook Page together with the Instagram account linked to it, through what Meta calls "Instagram API with Facebook Login." Choose this if you also want to automate the Facebook Page itself (comments, Messenger DMs), or schedule posts to both.
Connect Instagram only, connects your Instagram account directly, through what Meta calls "Instagram API with Instagram Login," with no Facebook Page involved at all. Choose this if Instagram is the only thing you want to automate, or you don't have a Page.
Straight from Meta's own documentation: "This API setup does not require a Facebook Page to be linked to the Instagram professional account."
Side by side
| Connect via Facebook | Connect Instagram only | |
|---|---|---|
| Automate Instagram comments & DMs | ✅ | ✅ |
| No Facebook Page required | ❌ | ✅ |
| Also automate a Facebook Page (comments, Messenger DMs) | ✅ | ❌ |
| Schedule posts to Facebook from this connection | ✅ | ❌ |
| Simpler, faster setup | ❌ | ✅ |
Requirements
- Connect via Facebook needs a Facebook Page with your Instagram account linked to it, you then authorize Arolead through Facebook Login.
- Connect Instagram only needs an Instagram Business or Creator account (not personal), nothing else.
